Tableside

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Tableside is a personal dining journal. Your restaurants, staff contacts, notes, photos, and visits are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a user account system and we do not receive your restaurant data on our servers.

Data stored on your device

Network use

The map is Apple Maps. If Apple Maps cannot load, the map falls back to OpenStreetMap. If you add an address, the app may contact a geocoding service to look up coordinates. If you tap Near me, the app uses your device location on the map (when you allow it). If you import staff from Contacts, the app reads only the contact you pick (name, phone, email) to fill the staff form. Restaurant website links open in your browser when you tap them. If you turn on “Show restaurant photos from Google”, opening a restaurant that has no photo of its own sends that restaurant’s name, city, and address to Google Places to show a photo. The photo is loaded from Google for that view and is not saved in your journal. Tableside may store the Google place id on your device. This stays off unless you enable it, and it stays off when the app was built without a Google API key.

Visit suggestions

Visit suggestions are optional and off unless you turn them on. On iPhone, detection happens entirely on the device: Tableside compares a visit with restaurants you already saved and does not upload that location. Nothing is added to your journal until you confirm it. The only network request added by this feature is an Apple Maps place lookup, and it runs only when you tap Add on a suggestion for a new restaurant. It does not run in the background. A mute list and an optional home spot stay on the device.

Backup export / import

You may export a JSON backup file to Files or iCloud Drive. That file is under your control. Import replaces local data on the device where you import it.

Analytics & tracking

Tableside does not include third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Children

Tableside is not directed at children under 13.
